Patient Consent

At Fallon Aesthetics, we believe that every patient has the right to make informed, confident decisions about their treatment. Our consent and capacity process ensures that all patients understand their options, feel supported, and are able to make choices that are right for them.

Informed Consent

Before any treatment takes place, we follow a structured consent process to ensure you have all the information you need. This includes:

  • A clear explanation of the treatment
  • Expected benefits and realistic outcomes
  • Possible risks, side effects and complications
  • Alternative options, including the option not to proceed
  • Aftercare requirements and follow‑up plans

You will have the opportunity to ask questions, take time to decide, and discuss any concerns. Consent is voluntary, informed, and documented before treatment begins.

Consent is an ongoing process — not a one‑off signature. We review and confirm your consent at every appointment.

Assessing Capacity

We follow the principles of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) to ensure that every patient has the ability to make their own decisions about treatment.

A patient is considered to have capacity if they can:

  1. Understand the information relevant to the decision
  2. Retain that information long enough to make a choice
  3. Weigh up the risks, benefits and alternatives
  4. Communicate their decision

Most adults have capacity, and we always start from the assumption that you do.

If there are concerns about capacity — for example due to anxiety, language barriers, learning needs or temporary medical issues — we take extra steps to support you. This may include:

  • Giving information in a different format
  • Allowing more time
  • Involving a trusted family member or advocate (with your permission)
  • Re‑scheduling treatment if you are unwell or unable to decide clearly

If a patient does not have capacity, treatment will not proceed.

Voluntary Decision‑Making

Your decision to have treatment must be made freely. This means:

  • No pressure from family, friends or others
  • No financial or emotional influence
  • No pressure from staff

If we feel you are being pressured or are unsure, we will pause the process and support you to make a decision in your own time.

Consent for Prescribed Medicines

For treatments involving prescription‑only medicines (such as weight‑management medication), our Registered Nurse will:

  • Assess your medical history and suitability
  • Explain how the medicine works
  • Discuss risks, side effects and monitoring
  • Ensure you understand how to use it safely

Consent is recorded and reviewed regularly as part of your treatment plan.

Young People & Age Requirements

Fallon Aesthetics provides treatments only to adults aged 18 and over.
We only treat anyone under 18 with parental consent for a limited number of tretaments.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Change your mind at any time
  • Decline treatment
  • Ask for more information
  • Request a chaperone
  • Pause or stop treatment during the appointment

Your comfort, safety and autonomy are always our priority.

Our Commitment

We are committed to ensuring that every patient:

  • Understands their treatment
  • Feels respected and supported
  • Has the capacity to make their own decisions
  • Gives consent freely and without pressure
  • Receives care that is safe, ethical and compliant with national standards
